Jody was visiting her sister in St. George, Utah in 2015. There, in her sister's front yard, was a seemingly wild kitten hunting birds. Over the next few days, Jody fed and befriended the kitten. By the end of Jody's trip, the kitten had bonded with her little dog Boo and the decision was made to bring Alice home to Montecito, California.
"She did eat here a lot."

"It's a special connection."
John met Butterscotch Swirl in 2020 while on a walk in the neighborhood. He'd see her frequently on his walks and had many delightful encounters. One day he spotted her in his yard. She had climbed over fences and walked quite a ways to find him! John named her Butterscotch Swirl because of her coloring and his affinity for the ice cream flavor.
"She's influenced me to be a better person."
Daniel first met Snowpea in 2020. After a couple months of seeing each other when Daniel would go for jogs around the neighborhood, Snowpea appeared at his door one night and pretty much never left. Despite that one time a woman called the cops to try to get the cat back, Snowpea and Daniel seem destined to be together.
"She came into our lives at the perfect time."
Jelinda and Barry are Daniel's parents and Snowpea's grandparents. They fell in love with Snowpea when she came to live with Daniel and often ask him to bring her to their home for visits.
"She was always moving forward."
